Backgammon Board

Rosewood, Sycamore, Mappa, Madrona, Eucalyptus, Suede, Brass

The parquetry pattern on the exterior of this backgammon board, a variation on a traditional Louis cube, was designed in close consultation with my client. The rippled sycamore used for the pattern is repeated on the dice cups, while the solid brass chequers are inlaid with the same Madrona and Fumed Eucalyptus found on the points of the playing surface. The playing surfaces and exterior panels for this board contain over 1,200 individual veneer pieces, each painstakingly cut and assembled by hand. One in a limited series of 3, built for the same client.
